The above information is based on user reports and/or testing by Visual Flight. DownloadsHow big is the download? The download is 17.5 MB - that's 45 minutes at 56K. You are advised to check that the download size is manageable before ordering terrain mesh scenery from Visual Flight or any other source. There can be considerable differences.
These times are best case, and assume a good reliable connection. Can I use a download accelerator? Some users have reported difficulties. In particular there's a possibility that the multiple simulataneous connections that these utilities use may cause the fixed number of connection attempts to be exceeded. The best option is to use the multi-part download (see below). Is there a multipart download available?Yes. There is an option to download the scenery in 4 separate parts of approximately 4.39 MB each. Is there an alternative download link?If you have any problem with your download, please email support@visualflight.co.uk for an alternative download link. What if I can't get the download to work?Contact support@visualflight.co.uk. We guarantee that you will get your scenery. FS2002There seems to be a problem with houses and trees floating in the airSet your Terrain Mesh Complexity to maximum (100%) in Display Settings. Even with this setting there's still a small amount of floating, but you have to look very hard to see it. NB. This appears to be a problem with FS2002 - the autogen renderer is interpreting the terrain mesh data differently to the terrain renderer resulting in a mismatch between the elevations used by each. How do I get the autopilot to follow a flight plan? You should find a switch on the panel marked GPS/NAV. Make sure it is in the GPS position. Next find the autopilot - it's usually found in the Radio Stack window. To get this to display, choose Views, Instrument Panel, Radio Stack from the menu. You can usually display/hide the Radio Stack with Shift-2. On the autopilot, click the NAV button, then activate the autopilot by clicking the AP button. I'd like to see more of the scenery, but the instrument panel gets in the way. From the Cockpit view, press "w". This will give you a minipanel display/. Press "w" again and you have an unrestricted forward view. How do I make a screenshot? The easiest way is just to hit the Print Scrn key when you're running Flight Simulator. This puts the screenshot into the Windows clipboard. When you're out of Flight Simulator, you can Edit, Paste the screenshot from the clipboard into a graphics program, e.g. Paint. From there you can save it to a file. You might be best saving as a JPEG file to cut down on the file size. You can only do a single screenshot at a time with this method. Look in your favourite flight sim file library (e.g. www.avsim.com or www.flightsim.com) for dedicated screenshot utilities. SceneryDoes your mesh scenery cover all of England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland?Yes, it covers the whole of England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Wales, Scotland and the Isle of Man, but not the Channel Islands. There's a coverage map on the Home page. What is the resolution? Some terrain mesh scenery is advertised with very high resolution, and although it isn't stated, it is most likely that the resolution quoted refers to the resampling interval rather than the source data resolution.
