For a testimonial this is a little on the long side, and I'd like to thank Rory Gillies of The Shetland Flyer, for allowing me to reproduce it in its entirety.
"I had a quick flight this lunchtime and I can honestly say I have just encountered the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen in MSFS. Many years ago (late 60's to mid 70's) I used to spend most of the summer holidays in the Golden Valley, at a place
called Poston in Vowchurch, a few miles west of Hereford. My dad was stationed in Madley for a short time during the war (he was a radio operator in Anson's and later in Catalina's based up here in Shetland) so he new the area quite well. I recall many lazy days in this beautiful part of Britain, and I'm sure it never rained back then!
"As my Cardinal was at Shobdon after the weekend I decided to set the date to mid July and set off south, south-west in search of my old haunts. Climbing to 3000' the snaking river Wye soon came into view, and my thoughts were of swimming at Bredwardine Bridge and catching the odd
Grayling. I could see the 1:4 gradient in the road between Dorstone and Bredwardine, with Arthur's Stone perched on the ridge. Turning south east I followed the track of the long gone Golden Valley Railway through Peterchurch and Vowchurch, with the Poston camping site clearly in view.
"Turning west at Abbey Dore it was time to look at the Black Mountains - it's hard to describe just how amazing they look, and I had to pinch myself as the reality of the scenery was that great. As time was pressing and I had to get back to Shobdon I followed Offa's Dyke path (easily seen) up to Hay Bluff to see if I could see any hang gliders (I had my first experience of hang gliding here in 1976), but didn't have the time to search! It was time to point the Cardinal to Shobdon and end the short flight.
"The combination of beautiful scenery, lazy summer weather, a great aircraft and more than a hint of nostalgia turned a 40 minute hop into the most amazing experience I have ever had in a flight simulator."
