Can it get any better? Great tree scenery, great Chipmunk and great frame rates. Thanks both

Hi Shep

How on earth are you getting that framerate!

My System has FSX maxed with all sliders on max
apart from traffic on 50%

I am running at 1680x1050 32 bp.

no stutters and smooth as silk even though i only get an average of 30 fps.

My autogen is on max and i do not have any tree/building limits in the fsx.cfg

I don't have a problem and i am totally happy with the framerate i get but just wondered how you got that in some areas i get an average of 60 to 80fps.

Asus P5B Deluxe.
Core2duo E6600 @ 3.3 ghz 366mhz x9 fsb speed. (1464mhz)
Artic "Freezer pro 7" cooler.(cooler @ 3.3 ghz than std heatsink at 2.4 ghz!)
Sapphire ATI X1950XTX 512 DDR4.
2 gb Kingston HyperX ram 1200 mhz.
Thermaltake "Soprano" case
2.6 tb of HDD space spread over 6 HDDs.

Regards
Rick

I spend ages tweaking for max fps Rick, both within my system cfg and FSX.cfg. Idea of my spec/cfg here -

http://www.uk2000scenery.org.uk/forum/index.php?topic=663.0

and another screen shot showing FSX/GenX 85fps here -

These autogen trees are extremely welcome but how does one find the bgl. in which to place them? Is it as simple as looking in the GenX scenery booklet where they seem to fall in Area 1 of Vol. 3? - I, somehow, doubt it!
On an associated subject I have lots of autogen trees in FS2004 which are crying out to be placed in FSX GenX but I have no idea where they should go or, perhaps, more accurately, I don't know how to place them in FSX.
I [despite the best efforts of well respected contributors to these Forums to help] have never managed to set up an AIO .

Didn't doubt that for a second Rick and hope you can increase your fps after trying a few tweaks. I can improve fps slightly by increasing the fsb to just over E6800 spec (3200) but prefer a quieter PC. I run my Artic "Freezer pro 7" cooler at 2177 speed using Speedfan for idle temp 36/37, max FSX temp 39/40

It's Easy Peter. Use File explorer and search for the bgl in each part
scenery folder until you find the file you want.

Thanks Alan. Is file explorer the same as Windows explorer? It seems to be a Catch 22 - I'm trying to find a file that I won't recognise because I don't know what I'm looking for in a search engine that won't tell me [even assuming that I'm seaching correctly in the first place ]!

Hi Peter

Not sure why you need to know which BGL is which ??.

Folder names are self descriptive as to where they go so i don't see what you mean.

Hi Again Peter.

All in one is very very easy but takes a while as there are so many files.

first job is run FSX & untic the Gen X scenery parts.

Exit FSX then.

Open your Generation X folder.

Create a folder called "AllInOne"

Open it and make 2 folders "Scenery" & "Texture".

Now copy the contents of Each Generation X "Scenery" folder 2.4 & 4.2 ones into the new AllInOne/Scenery

Do the same for all the texture folders.

then restart FSX and enable the new AllInOne setup.

While you are there delete the old mass of GenX entries.

Now your done.

Easier to do that explain.

Regards
Rick

Hi Peter.

Yep, sorry I should have said Windows Explorer not file explorer. Old habits die hard!

As Rick says, an all in one installation is the best way forward.

Rick: I like the screenshot you have posted. The trees on the far side of the lake are as yet not improved, just converted to FSX trees from the old FS9 AGN's but the broadleaf trees on this side of the lake have been and show what the whole park should look like when I have finished it. The conifers need thickening up a bit in the foreground.

Other areas that are fairly well completed in this first release are east of Coniston up to and around Esthwaite Water, North of Coniston around Tarn Hows and the trees around Grassmere. These areas demonstrate what I want to achieve throughout the park.

Hi

May I add that In My AIO folder for GenX ,I also relinquished all the mesh folders contents to the AIO scenery folder. That is working fine for me and it cuts down the loading time.

I also transfered all The old AGNs in my Old VFR AIO texture folder to my GenX AIO texture folder. So Here is my Question to Alan: Will the New trees overwrite old ones in the same locations or will there be problems with overlaping???????

Ray: Thank you very much for Charing your FSX CFG tweeks. I tried them last night and they made a big improvements to my scenery clarity.

Regards and best wishes

Hi Monir.

I gather the actual tiles are numbered in the same manner as John's VFR scenery so the new AGN's should just overwrite the old versions.
