Think of a superlative then another. I finally got hold of a copy of PC Pilot and the Horizon Generation X. It installed without a problem on my AMD (note to self, I must replace at least one of my 74Gb Raptors with a 150 before the full release).
These are the results of a quick trip in the R-22, the first one is a top-down view. (I seem to have a thing about quarries, the draw me like a magnet ) The shots have been reduced from the monitors native resolution of 1920x1024, but one can see cars on the roads! (not the FSX traffic). In both full-screen and windowed, the frame rates are astounding and no wishy-washy colours.

George, well done, they are fantastic and just the sort of thing I was hoping for. Now John where is your link for ordering this scenery.
BTW I had a quick look at the Just Flight video of the area their Demo will cover and the colours are a bit bland by comparison.

Mind you to be fair to Just Flight, I don't know how the demo will show up in FSX screen shots. The one above is a screen shot from the video. |

The JF still seams to have that green fade to it??..or is that just me.....
Comparing the two, one seems vibrant and colourful....the other, not so much........
And if you go out and look at real grass, and real trees.....dull and faded, they ain't...lol. Not even on a gray day like today.....
When is the JF demo out? I'd like to take a peek to compare and contrast.... |

I bet these shots don't look anything like as good as they do in the sim either do they George? Somehow screenshots, as good as these are are never the same as seeing the scenery in the sim.
My copy of the demo is less than an hour away now. I am looking forward to having a look at it.

your'e going to love it Alan.....
Remember....scenery sliders ALL the way to the right....something nice and slow so you can take it all in, and set FPS to something good like 30fps+......
FSX is here, and with a BANG!!!!!! |

Gordon Bennet, I didn't see anything approaching this quality when I had a short play yesterday, despite turning everything up per NinjaMouse's suggestion. . I must be doing something awfully wrong - or have a really naff monitor, those screenies really are something else. I will try again early next week when we are at home again and maybe look for a different monitor to use - I have 3 off 19" monitors here, 2 different manufacturers, but only tried the one, maybe nick the new Hyundai off of the wife's

Wow, this new VFR is absolutely fantastic. The clarity is incredible. You half expect to see climbers on the mountains, it looks that good. No only can you see cars but you can also see dry stone walls snaking their way up the mountainside.
Your are right Carl. I LOVE IT!

Look at this, proper welsh mountains in the foreground and microsoft mickymouse mountains in the background. No comparison is there?

The finished product will be incredible.
Alan
EDIT: I just found the campsite I stayed at In August 2004 in Beddgelert, the scenery is that clear. |

OK - I'm convinced
Just downloaded and installed the generation X demo and it's fantastic! While still not being convinced by quite a lot of the shiny things in FSX, this is the business and no mistake.
Wonderful detail, very smooth and only the slightest hint of blurries! Even without the UK2000 airfields, grumpy old me is going to have to part with the readies for this. When we get add-on scenery to match - yes it is going to be great.
Cheers,
Chris |

| Nice screenies, thanks for posting them as it give a good idea what it looks like uncompressed like the video. Does this PC Pilot demo work with the FSX demo or does that need the full FSX product? |
