I must admit I hadn't tried IE7 until today, but having now tested Beta 2 on the new look Visual Flight forums and web site, I must admit I'm impressed by some of its features, particularly its Newfeed abilities: Clicking the Visual Flight News tab (above), then clicking the blue RSS button gave me the IE7 newsfeed view of the page, along with an invitation to subscribe.

This was simple enough, but not exactly mind-blowing, however IE7 also put up a list of news categories at the right hand side of the IE7 window containing all the categories that IE7 had 'discovered' in the news articles. Clicking any of the categories automagically resulted in just the matching articles being displayed, which to me just brought home some the advantages of the new web site, and the simplicity and effectiveness with which IE7 was able to exploit the hidden information in the news feed.

If you have IE7 or some other newsfeed aware software, give it a try: Visual Flight News

If you don't, no need to miss out: just click the Visual Flight News tab above to view the news, or click any of the news items in the Visual Flight News box on the left, or use this link: http://visualflight.info/news

Nice one John.
It seems like all the criticism fired at MS has sparked them into getting their act together.
Another MS app. that I have been using recently is Windows Defender Beta2. This has some really useful features and is well worth investigating if you have not already done so.

At risk of getting into dangerous territory, as far as I'm concerned that happened several years ago.

Yes, I'm aware of Defender. I have to say however that I uninstalled it and re-installed Anti-spyware because it seemed they'd taken out all the 'power' options that I found so useful. I don't know if they've re-appeared in beta 2 (in fact I can't recall which beta I tried without looking it up), but for the moment at least Microsoft seem to be continuing to update Anti-Spyware so I'll carry on using it. (Sadly Anti-Spyware is no longer available for download, so let's hope they put the power options back into Defender, even if they are hidden away from people who don't want them).

Despite my concerns at the loss of the power functionality, I'm sure Defender is a very good piece of software, and I would recommend that anyone without active anti-spyware capabilty take a look at it:
