Does anyone know how to change the default values for FS9 i.e.-SELECT AIRCRAFT-SELECT TIME-SELECT AIRPORT. I have scanned the FS9.cfg folder but could not identify any obvious settings.

Many Thanks

Bill.

Hi Bill
Pick the aircraft you want in the select menu.
Pick the airport you want in the select menu.
Go to settings and chnage the general time setting away from system time.
Click Fly Now.
Once the flight has loaded, set your zoom levels, whether you want to be in a cold start situation etc etc.
Save the flight, give it a name and check the make this flight default at the bottom of the page.
Exit the flight.
Click on select a flight.
Pick the flight you have just saved and check on the default flight tickbox.
Exit FS9.
Restart FS9 and you should find that the aircraft, airport and time settings are your new settings.
Good luck
Brian

You can achieve what you want by doing the following:

1. Start up Flight Simulator

2. Choose aircraft, airport, time, etc

3. Change Options, Settings, General..., Time: from "System time" (the default) to "Flight Time"

4. Choose Flight, Save Flight...

5. Give the flight a name OR Name the flight "Previous flight" (make sure you type this exactly as shown, or alternatively select the existing one from the Saveed flights list)

6. Click "Make the the default flight"

7. Click OK to save

8. Confirm that you wish to overwrite the previous saved flight if prompted

The difference between the two options in step 5 is as follows:

* If you save as Previous flight, every time you exit FS and restart, you will be in the place you last left off (unless FS crashes/hangs, in which case you will be back where you were at the previous startup[).

* If you use a different name, you will be in the exact same startup situation each time you start FS regardless of where you have flown in the meantime or which aircraft you have switched to etc.

It looks like you're being spoiled! The only difference between Brian's advice and mine is that I'm also giving the option of making the Previous flight the default flight, and he's mentioning a few other things you might want to set first. Other than that, as far as I can see, we're saying the same thing.

PS. This information holds good for FS2002 as well.

Thanks John & Brian,

I can now go direct to plane, airport and time without the tedious selection process, which I was doing when introducing AI.

I have done this before for saved flights but for some reason I did not think this was what I needed to do: trust me not to see the simple way, age I think.

Many Thanks

Bill.
