I bought this Joystick a couple of months ago and very happy except for the following:-

When I move the throttle stick forward or backwards I sometimes get a noise that I can only describe as water dropping on hot metal or an electrical pop. (it will make this noise even when I am not using it)

The reason I am a bit worried was the last time I heard something like this the noise was coming from the USB side of my iiyama 22" 514 Pro monitor recently - just before a flash and a bang - dead Monitor. (under warranty so I did get a replacement)

Anybody have any ideas please?

It sounds like a dirty potentiometer.

Thanks George - that is a possibility and not a dangerous one. I will probably leave it and hope it's just the newness wearing off

have to admit... I got the X52 about a month ago... great stick!

I never had any strange noises from mine... might be best to get a new one...

Thanks for the advice.

The UK Saitek forum has one other user of a 'live' throttle and hopefully one of Saitek's 'techies' may have the answer soon.

I bought it from PC World online and I already had a running with them over a lack of manual inside the box but as it was only £75 delivered I was still happy and Saitek Bristol had a manual delivered to me the following day.

As an avid reader of PC Advisor and the consumer watch column. Given the mention of PC World, I suspect you have been given a handback. Especially as there was no Manual. You should not have to "put up" with such shoddy goods/service. Please take it back, and maybe one day things will improve.

....if it ain't broke don't fix it....

I have a different problem with my Saitek X52, bought a couple of months ago. I sent the following e-mail to techsupport@saitek.com 3 days ago but I have not had a reply yet.
"Dear Sir,
We have spoken about this before and your solution (reinstalling Software without uninstalling) worked for a short period, but now it has failed again.
Windows XP. High spec. computer.
Software from CD Rom V. 4.3.3.2000.
The USB plugged into computer, not into a USB Hub.
On Startup and Reboot a window comes up saying "Manual configuration has encountered a problem and needs to close". An icon of the Flightstick is present in this Window.
If I do not have the USB plugged-in, no problems. After Startup, if I then plug-in the USB the FlightStick icon appears in the Task Bar. Everything from then on has worked upto now.
I have uninstalled all the Software and reinstalled. No difference.
Will you please help me. Thank you very much."
Can anyone help me please. Many thanks.

I have this problem too Bravo...

Doesn't happen every time, but it does more often than not... I just manually start the profiler each time I get the error and it works fine from there.

Would be nice however to find out the the reason behind it!
