Restoring original water textures from CD

If you need to restore the original FS29002 water textures from the FS2002 CD for any reason, it's relatively quick and easy to do, but you need to be confident in using Windows file management and utility programs such as WinZIP.

Instructions
  • Put your original Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 Disc 3 into your CD drive.

  • Using My Computer or Windows Explorer, find the folder SCENEDB and open it.

  • Find the file WORLD.CAB (it may be listed as just WORLD, depending on your Windows settings).

  • If your version of Windows supports it, you may be able to open or explore WORLD.CAB. If not, you will have to use a file extraction utility such as WinZIP (www.winzip.com) or check how to use the EXPAND command (see Windows Help).

  • From the FS2002 menu, choose Flights, Select a Flight... (If you are in the FS2002 Welcome screen, choose SELECT A FLIGHT)

  • From WORLD.CAB, you need to extract the following files from the Texture folder and copy them to FS2002\SCENEDB\WORLD\Texture:
    * 013b2wa1.bmp
    * 014b2wa1.bmp
    * 015b2wa1.bmp
    * 016b2wa1.bmp
    * 017b2wa1.bmp
    * 018b2wa1.bmp
    * 019b2wa1.bmp
    * 020b2wa1.bmp
    * 021b2wa1.bmp
    * 022b2wa1.bmp
    * 023b2wa1.bmp
    * 024b2wa1.bmp

Notes

1. It is simpler to copy the textures from FS2002/scenedb/world/texture/VFRbk. This folder is normally created during installation of the replacement water textures.

2. If you want to use a wildcard to extract the water textures from WORLD.CAB, use 0??b2wa1.bmp

3. If you have any doubt about your ability to follow these instructions, please contact Just Flight technical support instead. Details of how to do this are given in the registration leaflet supplied with the scenery.
