I have made a very simple program which acts as a front-end to GianP's Autogen X-TREES library. It is similar to Rwy12 but is smaller and specifically for GianP's trees. If you would like a copy, send me a mail.

Thanks

I can vouch for that. At last I am getting the correct trees in the correct place!

I have been amazed at the number of requests I've received. I guess they are out to prove the old saying "England is a green and pleasant land". It is certainly going to be covered in trees

If anyone else would like it, just send me a mail.

George

George, would it be possible to program a group selection of say 5 or 6 trees of the same type but different sizes that could be placed as one clump to speed up planting large areas

When I use anotator it puts one tree for every box I place, whether very large or small. Is it supposed to fill in large boxes with lots of trees?

How I get over large areas in annotator.

Draw 15 or 20 squares (each square = 1 tree) then use the select feature to highlight all the squares then use copy paste. You can paste as many tree blocks as you want very quickly but it does use the supposed 600 trees per tile up quickly if you made small squares.

Hi folks,

As I said in my first post, TreePlanter is a very simple program, however after a few requests, I am in the process of modifying it to allow append and edit features.

As I am still receiving requests for the program, could anyone requiring it please refrain from requesting it until I finish the update (hopefully not too long).

Thanks for your interest, I have been overwhelmed by your response.

George

Hi Shep,
I have been 'indisposed' for a few days and not feeling like sitting at the PC. I can see I have missed lots of stuff!
You mention a 600 tree limit - how does that work? I have tiles with over 1000 trees but clearly I haven't counted whether they all appear! Sometimes I have wondered if everything I have created actually appears.
I hope my RSI hasn't been wasted Perhaps I need to stop trying to create dense woodland - which there is lots of round here.

Tony

In the early days, before I read the 2004 Autogen SDK I hit 2000 tree per tile many times and swore blind they all appeared - I now know they don't.

Towards the end of the 2004 Autogen SDK is the following :-

"Limitations in Flight Simulator
For performance reasons, the scenery engine in Flight Simulator limits the number of buildings displayed to 300 per square kilometer and the pieces of vegetation displayed to 600 per square kilometer.
Future versions of Flight Simulator, however, may increase these limits; there is no limitation on the number of building footprints and vegetation areas stored in the annotation files."

With large wooded areas I find it's best to start with the edges first and leave the infill to last. The outside edges show more anyway - and it's a lot easier on the RSI complaint.

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news - I too was gutted at the thought of all those wasted trees I planted

I almost forgot - The answer to the 600 tree limit is George's **GREAT** TreePlanter you can rattle off hundreds of excellent trees with ease (FS2004 ONLY). No fps drop and no difference from default autogen. I have already planted many hundreds - see -

Hi Shep,

Thankyou
I have been getting a bit carried away with the woods!
I have toyed with the treeplanter. It is great and where I really need to I know what to do.
I hope to be back planting soon.
